The tealight is the pinwheel head laying on its back. I haven't yet managed to get it to float well in a pool without tilting a bit to the side, but I'm working on it.

The "shadowcaster" shown below is a failed experiment. I could get the thing to spin easily enough, but once twisting tension built up on the dental floss, it reached an equilibrium that prevented continuous rotation.

Let me know if you come up with a simple solution for this.
